Why doesn't God reveal himself in this generation?

He does, often in very subtle ways, and in the Bible. In Moses’ time, everyone had very limited understanding of God. In Jesus’ time the Jew’s still didn’t completely understand God’s plan. Perhaps those times needed more dramatic displays to ensure God’s message would be passed on. Today we have the Bible - complete, all the way to the end of time. There’s no need to add more. The Bible itself has proof of God’s existence, expectations and power. Even so, God demands FAITH to please him. Not simple blind faith which could lead people to trust the wrong authority, but intelligent, carefully investigated faith. The Bible tells us to "test everything" [1 Thes 5:21]. So, "test" the Bible - you’ll be amazed how completely it passes the test. If you wonder about other "holy books" - TEST THEM. And we should always "test" any human religious leader. You will find the Bible is the only completely reliable source, with proof of God’s inspiration. Even our best religious leaders fall short. (The most reliable leaders will tell you to use the Bible as authority over them.) The Bible also says, "... without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." [Heb 11:16]. Today, a supernatural display might "scare" us into believing and following him. That’s not what God wants... he wants US to SEEK HIM, LOVE HIM... And to believe and follow him through in faith. With the Bible there is no need for a spectacle.
