Does God say
we can't have fun ?
| NO! But what
is your idea of fun? If its drunken parties, sexual promiscuity and other vices, God
would oppose it. But the most rewarding, and long lasting definition of "fun"
includes being in Gods will. For example, God doesnt say you shouldnt
drink alcoholic beverages (Jesus did) or have sex (with your wife). Yet, he commands you
NOT to commit adultery (physically or mentally), and commands against "drunkenness
(or otherwise losing control). Keep in mind that God created many experiences to be JOY
to the world. Yes, he also knows hes "testing us." God wants us to
enjoy the test - but not to excess. God created sex. God created the ability to make wine.
God created food that we love and enjoy. But he also commands us not to get drunk, not to
commit adultery and not to be a glutton. Dont think God is against fun. HE CREATED
IT. If you are driven to EXCESS, or if you blame God for a "bad habit", first,
realize that God didnt create the habit - he created the Joy. Second, understand
that evil influence (Satan) helps you sustain a bad choice. It doesnt mean God
condones it. If trapped in a "vice", ASK God to help you. NEVER SUSPECT that God
doesnt want you to have fun. Otherwise, we wouldnt have color, love,
happiness, skiing, art, music, golf, satisfaction... the list could go on forever. God
wants us to enjoy life the best we can - and within his will. But the ultimate
"test" of love for him (through his sacrifice of his beloved Son) still exists. |
